Mobility Measured: The WAVE Tour

Strategy demands evidence. Our WAVE Framework helps you gather evidence and showcase the value of Global Mobility.

The Framework to prove GM’s impact is coming to you!

MasteringGM® is hitting the road with Mobility Measured: The WAVE Tour, a one-day, high-impact workshop designed to help Global Mobility professionals like you demonstrate real business value.

Built around the proprietary MasteringGM® WAVE Framework, this workshop gives you the tools and insights to prove impact, gain influence, and speak the language of strategy.

We are bringing this workshop to just a few select cities.
If you want to be seen, heard, and valued for the work you do in GM, this is the moment to show up.

Why we are taking WAVE on the ROAD

A Vision for Global Mobility

For too long, Global Mobility has been seen as a support function: important, but not strategic. That needs to change. Global Mobility is enabling international growth, moving key talent, and keeping global business running. But if we cannot prove this impact, we will continue to be overlooked when it matters most. That is why we at MasteringGM® are taking our WAVE Framework on the road to help mobility leaders like you get the recognition and influence you deserve.

The WAVE Framework was built for exactly this purpose: to give Global Mobility a language the business understands. One based on evidence, outcomes, and ROI. In our workshops, you will learn how to connect your daily work to business priorities, how to make your case with data and clarity, and how to shift the perception of GM from cost center to value driver by understanding and applying the WAVE Framework in a practical, hands-on setting. It is built for people who are serious about making Global Mobility matter.

You will leave this workshop with a clear narrative, a strategic toolkit, and the confidence to speak the language of business. Expect fresh insights, tangible frameworks, and peer-driven energy that will elevate how you position Global Mobility in your organization. This learning session will be a turning point for your influence, clarity, and impact.

About the Tour

Mobility Measured: The WAVE Tour is a unique opportunity for Global Mobility professionals to step away from the operational grind and step into a room full of strategy, insight, and transformation.

At each stop, we run a one-day, in-person workshop built entirely around the WAVE Framework. This is not a lecture. It will be a highly interactive, practical, and focused session where you will learn to:

  • Understand the strategic levers behind Workforce, Adaptability, Value, and Engagement

  • Connect your everyday GM work to measurable business outcomes

  • Use data and framing tools to prove the impact of GM

  • Build your own WAVE-informed narrative to secure leadership buy-in

We are keeping the sessions intentionally small to allow real discussion, peer connection, and tailored input. So spaces are extremely limited and, like with previous events, are filling up quickly!

Same Experience, Different Cities

We are bringing the exact same high-impact experience to a select group of cities across the US. Each location will offer the full WAVE workshop, with identical content, structure, and depth. There are no reruns, no livestreams, and no recordings. If it is happening near you, this is your one chance to be in the room.

The WAVE Framework

The WAVE Framework is truly eye-opening. It bridges the gap between academic research and real-world application in a way we rarely see in Global Mobility. What impresses me most is how actionable it is: WAVE gives structure to conversations that too often remain vague, helping professionals clearly articulate the value of mobility with evidence and confidence. If you are serious about advancing your role and making mobility matter within your organization, this is the framework you need to know.

Chris Kline

Author of "Unpacking Employee Value"

While the full WAVE Framework paper is available for free at MasteringGM®, here is the core idea:

Global Mobility is facing increasing pressure to demonstrate its strategic relevance. Traditional models have focused too much on operations and too little on measurable impact. The WAVE Framework was developed to change that, providing a clear, research-based structure to help organizations align Global Mobility with business goals and make its value visible and credible.

WAVE stands for Workforce, Adaptability, Value, and Engagement — the four dimensions that together define the full strategic scope of Global Mobility. These dimensions are mapped across two axes:

  • Internal vs. External Orientation

  • People vs. Process Focus

This creates a holistic model that captures everything from building globally competent talent (Workforce) to enabling agile processes (Adaptability), driving business results (Value), and strengthening stakeholder relationships (Engagement).

We are taking WAVE on the road because the need is urgent. Most GM teams still struggle to prove their impact, and without evidence, it is hard to gain influence. This workshop gives you the tools, language, and structure to change that and to shift Global Mobility from background function to business driver.

The Workshop Agenda

By now, we are sure you are aware that this is not the typical GM conference. Our Mobility Measured workshop is a high-energy, small-group experience built for Global Mobility professionals who want to move beyond operations and make a real strategic impact.

This day is designed for interaction, not observation. You will dive deep into your own challenges, apply the WAVE Framework to your context, and walk away with practical tools, not just ideas. From building your ROI narrative to designing an action plan you can implement immediately, every session is built for clarity, confidence, and results.

We keep the group intentionally small to make space for meaningful discussion, shared insights, and sharp thinking. You will leave feeling energized, connected, and equipped to influence at the highest level.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is designed for ambitious Global Mobility and HR professionals who want to advance their careers, align personal and organizational goals, and work on becoming more strategic leaders in their field, making a lasting impact in their organization.

What will I get out of the workshop?

You will walk away with a clear understanding of how to demonstrate the business impact of Global Mobility — plus the tools, frameworks, and language to make it visible to stakeholders. It is about shifting from activity to strategy.

What makes this workshop different?

This is not a passive event or theory-heavy seminar. It is grounded in the WAVE Framework — a research-backed, action-focused model developed specifically for Global Mobility. We combine strategy, storytelling, diagnostics, and peer learning in one powerful day.

How do I know if this workshop is right for me?

If you have ever struggled to explain the real value of your work — or if you want more influence in your organization — this is for you. It is built for people who want to move GM forward and demonstrate its value to stakeholders inside and outside the organization. If you want to do a better job and others value your work, this workshop is for you.

Is this workshop relevant if I’m not in a senior GM role?

Yes! This workshop is relevant whether you are managing operations, leading strategy, or somewhere in between. You do not need a senior title — just the ambition to elevate your role and impact.

What will I leave with?

You will leave with far more than just notes and ideas! This is the beginning of a strategic transformation. You will complete a tailored WAVE diagnostic that helps you assess where your organization stands across Workforce, Adaptability, Value, and Engagement. You will craft your own personal impact plan, outlining exactly how you can start making changes that matter the moment you return to the office.

You will also develop the basis to craft a clear, structured outline for a business case that demonstrates how Global Mobility contributes to business outcomes — one that speaks the language of your stakeholders. But most importantly, you will leave with the confidence and clarity to lead strategic conversations about the future of mobility in your organization.

The workshop is a launchpad for taking your role — and your impact — to the next level. It is the starting point for real change. Plus, you will become of and strengthen your network of like-minded peers.

What do I need to prepare?

No pre-work is required. Just come ready to reflect, share, and engage. We provide all materials and templates on-site.

How does this workshop benefit my organization?

You will return with tools to better align GM with your company’s strategic goals, present clearer value to leadership, and improve how mobility decisions are made, supported, and funded.

Is this workshop suitable for HR professionals outside GM?

Yes — particularly those in talent, L&D, and global HR roles. If you work with international employees or want to understand how mobility fits into the bigger talent picture, you will benefit.

How is this different from other professional development programs?

Most programs are either academic or operational. This one bridges both — combining research-backed thinking with actionable tools you can apply immediately, all through the lens of WAVE.

What is this workshop NOT about?

This is not a relocation logistics seminar, a compliance deep-dive, or a vendor showcase. While we are proud to have trusted partners involved in the workshops, this is a sales-free zone — no pitches, no promotions, no distractions. Our focus is 100% on learning, strategy, and empowering you to elevate the role of Global Mobility in your organization. It is a full day dedicated to value creation, leadership positioning, and demonstrating real impact — not product demos.

Where can I download the WAVE paper?

You can download the full WAVE Framework research paper for free of charge at wave.mastering-gm.com.

Will the session be recorded or offered online?

No. This is a live, in-person experience designed for maximum interaction and depth. Each city gets one event only — there are no reruns or recordings.

What is the cost of the workshop?

All workshops on this tour are invite-only, and it is free of charge for those selected to participate. We are committed to creating a focused, high-value experience, which is why we exclusively welcome in-house corporate Global Mobility and HR professionals.

To join, you must either be personally invited by one of our partners or register your interest directly with us. We will review each submission through a short virtual vetting process to ensure the right mix of participants and maintain the quality of discussion.

If you believe you or your team should be part of this, we would love to hear from you. Just reach out and we will take it from there.

A few words from co-founder Michael Dickmann

Why GM ROI Matters

Measuring the return on investment of Global Mobility is no longer optional, it is essential. For years, we have spoken about the strategic value of mobility, but without clear evidence, that message has often failed to land with decision-makers. Today, organizations expect every function — including GM — to demonstrate how it contributes to business outcomes. And rightly so. Global Mobility has the potential to drive growth, enable innovation, and build globally competent leaders. But unless we can measure that contribution — and communicate it in terms that resonate with the business — we risk being seen as a cost rather than a capability.

This is why we developed the WAVE Framework. It helps organizations understand and manage Global Mobility in a structured, measurable way. By looking at Workforce, Adaptability, Value, and Engagement, we go beyond logistics and ask the right strategic questions. In my experience, when Global Mobility professionals learn how to speak the language of impact — backed by data, structure, and clarity — everything changes. Conversations shift. Influence grows. Resources follow.
